The recipient of the Star award was originally nominated as an Unsung hero.

However we have known Angela Lodge for a long time and witnessed her tireless efforts helping charity after charity. She is probably most remembered by the public  for her work running

BBC Essex Helpline, where she would go to great lengths to see those that needed help got it. However she is best known as a consultant  for the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity and heading up the fundraising. She has continued this year to raise money for Helen Rollason and other cancer charities, as well as Little Havens Hospice, despite being unwell herself and undergoing tests.

Her nominator James Wilkinson says that she does what she does without wanting  recognition… He also says that she is a true selfless unsung hero for Essex.
